All the staff was introduced. Rich had a cold so his voice was shot, but it warmed up as he got going. He declined to discuss any athletes, said we will see plenty of them in the near future. He did not talk about the DL coach except to say he has interviewed a lot of people and there are a large number of coaches that want to come to Arizona to coach. He did not say what the defense will be, but if you bought season tickets, you will be entertained. La Mont Lovett was there as a MC. He currently resembles the new DC Yates. Now if you recall, LaMont was a running back, but now he has filled out so to speak. When he came into the room, he did not have his name tag, so I went over and introduced myself and asked if he was Yates. He of course,was not.

One thing I did notice was that Greg Hansen was no where to be see. Here is a legitimate chance to talk to the coaches he has been trashing and to get data on the class of recruits he ahs been trashing. But, sadly he had to cover a senior goofy golf tournament in Benson and could not be there.

I forgot to mention that the covered practice field will be built, either on the current practice field or else where. There is an academic facility going in in the near term, followed by the covered facility. The cover will be in place for 2017/18. Rich like the heat (as do I for that matter), but covered we shall be.

Also uniform colors will not change. Rich Rod says he like red, blue and white, but aside from that we are a Nike school. Nike changes your uniforms every 4 or 5 years. So we will not change for a while. As Rich said "unlike Oregon who changes their uniforms every game"

On defense, Rich Rods says that you need lots of depth to counter the offenses these days. He said he would like to have 25 players that he could play regularly.

Rich says you can't win the Rose Bowl with walkons but you can't get to the Rose Bowl without them.

He also said he wants to build a championship team at Arizona. He said he does not see himself now being here 20 years. He said he does not want to be a Patertno or a Bowden. Said they were amazing, but he does not want to do that right now. On the other hand, he loves Tucson, his daughter is in school and a cheerleader, his son will be here for 5 years, he is not interested in any other job right now. When asked if it would bee difficult to coach is own son he said no. He said he knows what motivates his son. And if his son gets too difficult he will talk to his son's mama to straighten him out.

So since Rhett is a recruit, is RR allowed to speak to him during the dead period? Could make for some awkward dinners?

Actually Rich said there is a 3 day dead period for some obscure reason, so he and his staff were working on the 2017 recruiting lists. No clue as to who was on it,but the list is there. I expect the names are the same names on every PAC 12 list.
