This business of small-time jackasses claiming to be "in the know" from anonymous sources is just ridiculous. How many times do people have to get suckered by this stuff before it's time to say "shame on me"? So you've got some douchebag TV sports clown in the mediocre Pittsburgh TV market who went fishing. Then, he just doubles down, laughs it off, and hopes to win notoriety as "the most annoying figure in Pittsburgh sports". That's what we're talking about. So, it's always going to be that kind of jerk, some very myopic small-town newspaper writer, somebody trying to drive hits to the unsubstantiated "insider" gossip on his web site, or just an anonymous blogger. There may be five jobs that might entice Miller to leave Arizona. Part of that would depend on the "I've taken it as far as I can there" mentality, which means giving up, which isn't in Miller's DNA. It was the same situation with Lute. But after Lute said no to Kentucky a second time, he was pretty much dug in for the duration. The problem with arrogantly assuming that your school can pick and choose who they want and dismissing the resources of other schools is that when you're turned down, you've put them in a pretty clear pecking order. I certainly won't say Arizona is better than Kentucky, as that's obviously not true; there were other issues at play back then. But you can certainly talk about being superior to Maryland and Pittsburgh in hoops, which is pretty obviously true. And from football, you can drag Miami and South Carolina into it. Spin is spin, but when you're turned down, whether it's in an unsolicited tweet or not, you've still been turned down. And presumably that's for something better. Rather than all this hand-wringing all the time, we should be celebrating that.
