Odds & Ends

The Pac-12 Pre-Season Coaches Poll came out, and they pegged us at 9th. Maybe a bit of a motivational factor, but understandable after last year and with a new coach. Two more weeks before the season-opener at Rice. I went for a walk at Reid Park last weekend and checked out the outside of Hi Corbett. Doesn't appear any changes have been made. Other than the CatVision pixels issue, the only thing it really needs is paint to deal with the sun-fading. Maybe they did some of that on the inside, but I couldn't see any evidence of it. If you want to be an optimist, you can say we've still got 26 days before the home opener with Fullerton, and hopefully we're done with the cold and wet weather. I'd think you could pull out the plastic sheeting, masking tape, and paint guns, and blast a lot of cardinal and navy paint on large surfaces and get some decent bang for your buck.

I think we play in the NCAA tournament this year.

Per the Twitter, the Cats will have a new video board by next Thursday. Going from 20'x11' to 44'x25'.

I also noted last weekend that they've done some painting. The formerly faded green on the wall atop the bleachers down the left field side is now navy blue, which includes the diamonds containing the section numbers. Going with a new double-size video board will be a great addition.

Went for a stroll over there yesterday afternoon. They've got the old scoreboard down, so now it's just the base poles. Workmen were using cherry-pickers to do something on top of the poles. Maybe wiring or some other prep work.
