OT: Old Bars & Restaurants In Tucson

Black Oaks took all of mine. I'm wondering if you ever kicked my ass, especially at the Poco Loco .
p.s. The most famous signature on the Poco Loco wall---Mel Tillis.

When the Poco Loco first opened they had a grand opening. $5 for unlimited beer. Back in those days, #5.00 bought a lot of beer. They did so well that they had a grand opening every Friday for a year at least. You would walk into the place later in the evening and the floor would be awash with spilled beer. I expect Mel Tillis enjoyed the place as did many. I dp not remember seeing Mel there. I do remember some idiot hitting me from behind with a pool cue. It did nothing to me so when I turned around the guy dropped the cue and faded into the crowd. Was that you?

Does anyone remember the Home Den on 1st? One of those bars that opened at 6 am. Not to proud to say there were one or two times during an all nighter that I/we were waiting for the door to be unlocked.

Home Plate. A great establishment we would hit during the day.

Ice cold beer, batting cages (no helmet) greasy bar food.....all the things dreams are made out of.

Western bar late 80's (name escapes me?) I want to say it was located off Alvernon, a bit of a drive from campus. I pulled world class ass out of that place. No great drink specials so we would pound a sixer in the parking lot before stumbling in. MILF central too, just a great place for a college kid to get all hopped up & make some really bad fucking decisions!

Oaks touched on "The Buff" earlier. God damn that place was special! I miss it dearly....

Seafood joint on the NE side. My then girlfriend worked there for a while. Never ate there, but spent a fair amount of time in the bar waiting for her shift to be over.

That had to have been either the original Maverick on SouthEast corner of 22nd/Alvernon (or was it 22nd/Swan?), or the Sundance Saloon on north side of 22nd street around Swan. I really laughed out loud at your memory of slamming a cheap ass 6 pack in car before entering the bar. Can't tell you how many times I did that. Sometimes even got stamped, and went to car to slam more beers to keep buzz going. Ahhhh, the good ole days. LOL

I knew the Spinnaker well, and in fact knew your "then girlfriend" well. You weren't waiting for her "shift" to be over if you now what I mean! LMAO.....kidding Stu! Didn't know your then gf, never went to the spinnaker, but that was just too much of a set-up to let go.

Speaking of bars opening at 6AM, we had next door neighbors at AZ Commons who were hard core partiers...so after some late night mid week studying (yes, for real), we'd sometimes go next door to see what they were up to and have a beer. That's when I learned they were typically just waiting until 6AM for the Buffet Bar to open so they could go at it again. That's dedication. lol.
